The UN «Yearbook of Global Climate Action 2019» includes a few pages on positive climate initiatives. We believe that such initiatives merit a global platform fully dedicated to sharing and promoting innovative solutions, positive actions and best practices. To enable politicians, public authorities, civil society, researchers and private companies around the world to take action. Positive actions and real solutions inspire! They show that change is possible. Climate change concerns us all, wherever we live on this planet. During 24 hours a great number of positive actions and concrete solutions to solve climate related challenges will be presented by researchers, university spin-offs, start ups, innovators and established companies at press clubs around the world. Without implementation even the best solutions are just good ideas.

The continuous streaming of all the press conferences during 24 hours ensures a complete and uninterrupted visibility around the world. After the 24 hours event has finished, all press conferences will remain accessible for viewing on the World Press Clubs Alliance for Climate communication hub. The final report with the recommendations and contact details of all the presented innovations and solutions will be presented to the European Commission officials in Brussels, to the COP Bureau of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and made available to all the partners, press clubs, journalists and international organisations working on climate change and environmental challenges.

Press clubs are forums for meetings and networking within a community. Today, more than 120 press clubs are active around the world, organised in five federations: Overseas Press Club of America, Federation of European Press Clubs, ACP Press Clubs Federation, International Association of Press Clubs and the Asia Pacific Press Clubs Association.
The Press Club Brussels Europe (PCBE) is a joint initiative of the associations of international journalists based in Brussels and the BrusselsCapital Region. It has close to 1.200 members and since its opening in 2010, over 3.500 events have been organised in the club.
On the global scene, the Press Club Brussels Europe acts as a hub to promote partnerships with other press clubs around the world. It was instrumental in founding the ACP Press Clubs Federation and the Western Balkans Press Clubs Federation. It currently holds the presidency of the European Federation of Press Clubs as well as the presidency of the IACP (International Association of Press Clubs) until mid-2020.
The current climate debates (and debacles) made us launch the World Press Clubs Alliance for Climate initiative. It is our way of harnessing the power of our networks and the media to raise awareness and contribute to finding and promoting real and disruptive solutions to our global climate challenges. We owe it to ourselves and our children. Will you join us?
