THE ROSSINI NATIONAL MUSEUM AT PALAZZO MONTANI ANTALDI
The inauguration was the June 11, on the occasion of the 12th annual conference of UNESCO Creative Cities (Fabriano, 10-15 June).
The Rossini National Museum, together with the Birthplace of the famous composer, the Theater, the Civic Museums of Palazzo Mosca, the Tempietto rossiniano in Palazzo Olivieri and the Library of the Rossini Foundation (on the ground floor of Palazzo Montani Antaldi) completes the great Rossinian itinerary through Pesaro, UNESCO Creative City of Music.
The Rossini National Museum was created in order to celebrate the life of the man, the greatness of the artist but also the whole relevance of Rossini’s work. In the path through the various rooms you will have the opportunity to learn and deepen the knowledge of the various creative stages of the composer through paintings, busts, original documents and much more, framing each time the historical context, the places and the characters. From the entrance to the last room, as in an opera, visitors will be able to travel around the Rossinian world, also told through multimedia. A space will be set aside for temporary exhibitions dedicated to music, its history and its sound.
But the Rossini National Museum will also allow the opening to public enjoyment of one of the most beautiful and most valuable historical buildings in the city; Palazzo Montani Antaldi. The museum project has seen the close and fruitful collaboration of the Municipality of Pesaro, the Cassa di Risparmio di Pesaro Foundation, owner of the property, and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities which, in agreement with the Marche Region, which provided a grant of one million euros.
The management of the services has been entrusted to the Cooperative society Sistema Museo, winner of the call for tenders. The exhibition design, for which the Rossini Foundation was a scientific reference point, was signed by Panstudio, an associated architectural firm expert in setting up museums and art exhibitions, while multimedia applications were created by Ett, specialized company that has already worked for important sites such as the Ara Pacis in Rome, the La Scala Theater Museum in Milan. Finally, the Scuola Holden, founded by Alessandro Baricco, edited texts and audio for the exhibition.
