Femicide is the most extreme and irreversible expression of violence and discrimination against women, in radical opposition to all the rights and guarantees established in international and national human rights legislation. Faced with the gravity of this situation, the Follow-up Mechanism to the Belém do Pará Convention has organized a conference that will bring together academics, litigators, and experts to debate strategies for combating this problem in the region.

The objective of the conference is to advance the consolidation of the draft «Inter-American Model Law on the prevention, punishment and eradication of the violent death of women (Femicide/Feminicide)» that is being prepared by the Committee of Experts of the MESECVI.

The event will feature simultaneous translation in English and Spanish.
