HOW TO BE HUMAN IN THE AGE OF TECHNOLOGY?
Technological innovation opens up a whole range of new solutions, new challenges and opportunities and these need to be grasped with both hands. The theory of evolution, which developed in order to understand nature, is used more and more frequently these days in order to describe technology.
Dirk Helbing is professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. He also coordinates the FuturICT project which is dedicated to modelling the possible evolution of current society from techno-socio-economic systems.
Telmo Pievani, philosopher of science, teaches at the University of Padua. He is also a columnist at theCorriere della Sera and contributes to the Italian edition of Scientific American and Micromega.
