The Nordic Latin American Research Network (NOLAN) invites abstracts for its 9th Conference, to be held at the School of Global Studies, Gothenburg University, June 15-17, 2017. Abstracts should address topics related to the general theme of the conference,
Latin American Challenges in the 21st Century: Societies in Motion
Desafíos latinoamericanos en el siglo XXI: Sociedades en movimiento
We encourage researchers working on Latin America from a wide range of disciplines within the social sciences and the humanities to submit abstracts complying to one of the following thematic areas:
- Knowledges and knowledge production / Saberes y conocimientos
- Gender / Género
- Migration / Migración
- Development Models / Modelos de desarrollo
- International Relations / Relaciones Internacionales
- Bodies and subjectivities / Cuerpos y subjetividades
We suggest a list of topics that may cross transversally the above named areas: Buen Vivir/Alternative life models, economic growth, democracy, decolonization, gender, geopolitics, globalization, governability, history, modernity, social movements, urban processes, race, class, ethnicity, sexuality, regionalism, security, violence.
As a Nordic network conference, we wish to give priority to researchers from the Nordic countries. However we are open to proposals outside the Nordic region subject to availability. PhD students are also welcome to submit an abstract or poster proposal.
Instruction for abstracts of research papers Abstracts must have no more than 400 words, and should include a title, the name, affiliation and email of the author, and five key words. On the online registration-form you will need to select one thematic area and mark “papers”. Only one abstract per participant will be accepted. Working languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Instructions for abstracts of posters for the session Resources and Documentation. We also welcome abstracts for a poster session under the theme of Resources and Communication. Suggested topics for the session are sources, databases, digital resources, archives, scholarly editions, software, questions concerning publications or other forms of documentation produced or used in your research projects. Abstracts must have no more than 400 words, and should include a title, the name, affiliation and email of the author, and five key words. On the online registration-form, mark “poster”. Working languages: English, Spanish and Portuguese. The preferred format is A0. The poster should be self-explanatory and provide contact information. There will be a poster pitch organized in connection with the poster session but the posters will also be displayed throughout the conference at the venue site.
