The Commission will publish a Smart Specialisation Communication in May 2017 followed by a Smart Regions Conference in Helsinki on 1st and 2nd June (tbc). Currently there is a public consultation[1] on ‘smart specialisation’ developed by EU regions and countries. The consultation will obtain views on specialisation strategies, information on projects and initiatives and suggestions for future Commission actions to help implement the smart specialisation strategies and to evolve the concept of smart specialisation.
In order to obtain a range of inputs for future Commission actions and contribute to the Commission’s proposed Communication and consultation, ERRIN’s Smart Specialisation Working Group has invited selected EU networks, stakeholders and regions to a ‘hearing’ to exchange views and ideas, to discuss and develop input for an ERRIN input to the consultation and also feed ideas in to the Smart Specialisation Mirror Group to be held on 3rd March 2017[2].
